Subject: CALLING FOR A BOYCOTT!!
MALCOLM X AND FEDEX 5/19/14
We had a really good turn out today, for the annual "Shut 'em down" rally and march, to commemorate Malcolm X's birthday. In order for us to have 'THE OTHERS' respect our chosen hero, we have to MAKE them show respect by requesting that they close their businesses for a brief 4hr acknowledgement, and recognize that this was a very important man to this community. The 'December 12th Movement' has been doing this march for 20 years, and thank goodness they are still here to continue the tradition. Most establishments complied, and have been cooperating. However, today, FEDEX chose to be obstinate, and did not close up, despite all reasoning from some participants and police officers.
We are, therefore, declaring a boycott of the FEDEX on 125th st. in Harlem. The manager, a young Black women, unfortunately was not educated to be a socially conscious woman. She unfortunately holds the belief, as she has been brainwashed to believe, that Black people are not to be taken seriously, and that we are powerless. She's being a good steward in aiding and abetting their gentrification agenda, and, by not respecting Malcolm X's birthday, she's demonstrating her belief that Black people are essentially irrelevant and impotent in this community, already. Fact of matter is, Black people are still the majority in this community, and we have the economic power to speak loud, to effect any change, or influence we want, IF!, we can ever get it together to act as a collective community again.
Don't be afraid to show your power, you have nothing to lose...if you need copies, GO TO STAPLES!..or somethin'
Francine
