Rediscover Fort Tryon Park in a NY Times Tour of Northern Manhattan    Fort Tryon was recently featured along with her sister park, Inwood  Hill Park, as a highlight of an exploration of Northern Manhattan. In  the New York Times' recent travel feature, Seth Kugel explores the  best attractions and activities of our northern neighborhoods in '36  hours in Northern Manhattan'  <http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/23/travel/36-hours-in-upper-manhattan.html?_r=0>  . Fort Tryon is commended for it's "commanding views of the Hudson  River and the New Jersey Palisades" and for being a gateway to the  Cloisters treasures. Turtles Meet and Greet    Saturday, March 1, 2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.    Inside the Payson Education Center at Payson Avenue and Dyckman Street    Bring the whole family to meet the turtles of New York with Lorri  Cramer, N.Y. State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and Turtle  Specialist. Lorri will be joined by some of her shelled friends as she  speaks about what makes turtles so special and what you can do to help  them.     Meet inside the Payson Education Center on Dyckman Street, just west  of Payson Avenue in Inwood Hill Park.     This program is supported by the Greenacre Foundation and the Fort  Tryon Park Trust.    Garden Walking Tour in Fort Tryon Park  Sunday, March 2, 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.  Meet at the entrance to the Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park     Take a winter walking tour of the Heather Garden and its surrounding  areas in Fort Tryon Park. Discover which plants are in bloom in each  of the seasons. Learn about our numerous evergreens and conifers, some  of which predate the park, from a Fort Tryon Park horticulturalist.     These tours are wheelchair accessible but persons with mobility issues  may find them challenging because of the park's many steep paths.    Nature Crafts: Make Your Own Backyard Bird Feeder  with environmental educator Robin Sanchez  Sunday, March 9, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Meet inside Payson Education Center at Payson Avenue and Dyckman  Street     What better time to learn about wildlife and bird migration than at  the first sign of spring! Join Robin for a fun indoor kids program to  learn about the many native birds species, while making recycled bird  feeders and nesting bags in preparation for spring. Kids can then take  their crafts home to discover and observe wildlife right out their own  back window! Please bring an empty milk or juice carton from home  (extra cartons will be available).     Suitable for ages 5-10. Children must be accompanied by an adult.     This program is supported from the Greenacre Foundation and Fort Tryon  Park Trust.
